Teaming up with Kimberly M. Bartolacci, NCIDQ, ASID,

Director of Interior Design for Westwater Construction, Inc.,

Ana and Robert Nowlan of Cabinet Design Studio, Inc.

worked directly with the owner to fulfill his dream

of transforming his downtown Sarasota condo

into a unique ultra-modern residence.

Westwater Construction succeeded in creating an expansive living space including an open dining area. The wraparound island with counter seating is situated next to the gourmet kitchen, which features SubZero and Wolf appliances. The highly functional master suite includes an oversized walk-in closet complete with laundry area, adjoined by a stunning bathroom with glass-enclosed shower and soaking tub. The minimal, yet well-appointed office doubles as a second bedroom and features a walk-in closet and guest bath. An awesome study, with its adjoining bar housing a SubZero wine chiller, round out this amazing remodel, and fulfilled all of the client’s expectations.

Cabinet Design Studio’s artfully designed, skillfully constructed and expertly installed custom cabinetry, crafted from a sumptuous variety of exotic woods, provides functionality and elegance to every room. Their use of other innovative surface treatments provides rich finishing details. Backlit bronze-framed Chinchilla glass cabinet doors add a warm subtle glow in the island cabinets at the entry, echoed in the distance in the pantry/bar. The dining area features a custom-built mirrored alcove and buffet. Both bedrooms feature extraordinary walk-in closets with more than more than ample custom storage. The innovative electronic pop-up TV cabinet in the master bedroom, along with the elaborate floor-to-ceiling Murphy bed wall unit in the office, with its hidden file and printer cabinets, further showcases their expertise in creating space-saving functionality. Both bathrooms feature custom built-in cabinetry with matching mirror trim. PlyBoo Durapalm, Fractal® wall panels in Neo, a modern surface treatment applied to the doors of the floating wall cabinet in the study, and repeated in the adjoining bar area, was selected for its warm dimensional texture. Find out more at www.plyboo.com. The final detail was the addition of a burl wood wrap to the living area TV
creating the illusion of an elegant picture frame. Cabinet Design Studio’s professional artistry and craftsmanship make this penthouse condo a truly functional and visual delight.

An in-depth Look at the Bay Plaza Remodel

Originally constructed in 1982, existing interior kitchen walls had to come down to create the open space the client wanted.

Once demolition began, the updating and relocating of pre-existing plumbing fixtures and electrical wiring presented a major challenge. In some instances new smaller walls or enclosure boxes were constructed to conceal updated pipes and wiring

that couldn’t be moved. These “before and after” photos tell the story.
